IntoUniversity Hammersmith is our seventh centre to open in London. Academic Support sessions began running at the centre in January 2012, and was officially opened in March 2012.
Last year, Hammersmith saw over 640 students through FOCUS programmes. Since January 2012, when the team moved into the new site at St Andrew's Church, Hammersmith has been delivering IU's FOCUS and Academic Support programmes. Mentoring pairs are currently being matched and the second Buddy day will take place at the end of February. In March the centre was officially opened by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams.
Centre Update
Recently, IU Hammersmith ran an anthropology Buddy Day with 26 students from Henry Compton Boys' School. Students visited the centre and learnt about ways to classify the world. Students also visited SOAS where they had the chance to explore the university campus with their Buddies and, during the afternoon workshop, students became 'cultural investigators'- exploring unwritten codes of other societies. Year 12 students at Phoenix High School are already thinking about applying to university and IU Hammersmith delivered a workshop introducing personal statements to the students.
