Volunteering with young people on a Buddy Day
One-off Volunteering Opportunities with Young People

IntoUniversity has a number of important volunteering opportunities with young people for those who are unable to make a long-term commitment to one particular programme.

We currently have opportunities for both university students and full-time employees in London and Nottingham.

Opportunities for those in employment: Careers in FOCUS

We are seeking accomplished professionals from the workplace to participate in dynamic and interactive workshops that will give secondary students an insight into the world of work, whilst also offering them new transferable skills to increase their employability.

As a Careers in FOCUS volunteer you will:

  • Give a short presentation on your job and career path
  • Answer questions from the students about your profession
  • With support from our team, facilitate an energetic and interactive activity relating to your profession

Sessions run for approximately 1 hour and will occur on weekdays during the afternoon. An IntoUniversity member of staff will lead the session and support the creation of any materials.

If you would like to volunteer on the Careers in FOCUS programme with our young people, please apply here.

Opportunities for students: Buddy Days

We are seeking enthusiastic undergraduate or postgraduate students to act as 'Buddies' to 12-13 year olds for a day. To apply for this opportunity you must be studying at one of the following universities: King's College London, Imperial College London, SOAS, LSE, UCL, Queen Mary, University of London and The University of Nottingham.

As volunteers on the Buddy Programme, you will welcome a group of young people to your university to help them to understand more about Higher Education.  You will lead the students on a planned campus tour before participating together in an interactive themed activity.

Previous themes have included Economics, in which students bought and sold shares in a live trading game, Medicine, in which students tried their hands at assessing symptoms and diagnosing ilnesses, and Law, in which students set up a mock courtroom and debated issues affecting young people.

All volunteers will be required to participate in a training session. The visits take place on Wednesdays at university campuses in London and Nottingham from 10am to 2.30pm.

If you would like to volunteer as a Buddy with our young people, please apply here

Opportunities for students: Graduation Ambassadors

We are looking for enthusiastic university students to support our 'Graduation Ceremonies' which we hold for primary school children at our partner universities.

As a volunteer Graduation Ambassador, you would welcome groups of students to your university, support the students in any activities they may be doing and attend the Graduation Ceremony.

These opportunities are quite frequent and usually occur on Friday afternoons.

If you would like to volunteer as a Graduation Ambassador with our young people, please apply here.
