NFER evaluation

The Sutton Trust has commissioned the National Federation for Educational Research to evaluate IntoUniversity North Kensington and to place its findings in the context of academic work on the value of out-of-school learning for young people.

A qualitative evaluation of the IntoUniversity programme

IntoUniversity is an educational programme, funded by the Sutton Trust, aimed at children and young people who are most at risk of failing to meet their potential to go to university due to economic, social, cultural or linguistic disadvantage. The main aim of the study was to evaluate the impact of IntoUniversity on individual young people. More specifically, the evaluation aimed to take account of whether there had been a generally positive impact on young people and whether their participation in the programme had affected their future educational aspirations.

Key Findings

The main finding from the evaluation was that the IntoUniversity programme did have a positive impact on the young people who took part in the study. It did this in three ways:
