Children in a circle
The FOCUS Week has opened up so many unique opportunities that as a class teacher I would have found too difficult and time-consuming to provide.

Who we are

IntoUniversity Brent

After reconstruction and decoration work from April 2008, IntoUniversity Brent was officially opened on July 7th 2008. Housed in St Mark's Church on Bathurst Gardens, the centre runs the 3 strands of IntoUniversity - Academic Support, Mentoring and FOCUS. We work in partnership with young people and their families, local primary and secondary schools and alongside other statutory organisations, community groups, corporations and supporters. We deliver the IntoUniversity programme of high quality long-term inspiration and support to young people- helping them to fulfill their potential.

  1. Academic Support runs in our safe and friendly classroom space, empowering young people to progress academically. We have a team of university-educated tutors, as well as books and IT facilities.
  2. Our Mentoring Scheme recruits young people in Years 6-13 from Academic Support. It is a reward for commitment, good behaviour and keenness to think about future options. Mentees are trained and then paired with trained university student volunteers and can meet up to look at academic and social topics as well as addressing the mentee’s possible future aspirations. They are paired together for a minimum of one academic year.

Mentoring pairs can meet Monday to Friday at the centre from 3.30-6pm during term-time and from 10-6pm during holidays.
  3. Our FOCUS provision runs in partnership with local primary and secondary schools.
